Thomas Coats Ancestry Paisley Scotland
This evening, I am posting an image of a statue in Paisley centre which commemorates one of the key industrialists of the Victorian era, namely Thomas Coats of Ferguslie who lived Oct 18th 1809-Oct 16th 1883. Thomas Coats was one of the key drivers behind the growth of the thread and textile industry in Paisley which in turn generated huge wealth and employment in the era. Sadly the textile industry in Paisley is virtually defunct now although the physical legacy remains as manifested in the mill buildings which have been converted to other uses.
