This evening, I am posting information on Winning family history, as sourced from a grave-marker at Castlehead Church Burial Ground. This is not dated but probably dates from 1800 plus/minus 10 years. The inscription reflects the high rate of infant mortality of the time.
The stone was set up by James Winning and Mary Wills in memory of:
- James Winning, age 18 months
- Maggie Smith, age 17 months.
- John Dunlop, age 3 years 9 months.
- Janet Gibb, age 10 months.
