Miller Family Genealogy Tour Scotland

This evening I am presenting images etc from my research today of the various sites associated with the Miller Family Genealogy, West of Scotland

Hookhead Farm, Strathaven. This appears to be now split into possibly three dwellings all in close proximity to each other.

This is Avendale Church, Strathaven. This should be visited prior to Hookhead Farm

Church contact details

Strathaven Castle
Strathaven town centre

Loudon Hill
Loudon Hill from the north looking south, i.e.farmland probably known to William Miller and Jean Cochran

Winkinfield

Boghall Farm, Darvel is probably a ruin. After talking to the local farmer the site below is the best candidate for the remains of Boghall-which appears to have been quite a sizeable building.

As far as I can ascertain, the Old Loudon Kirk, Newmilns no longer exists. This is the current Kirk (church).

Newmilns cemetery, located at top of High Street.

Vennel Street, Stewarton

It appears that Nether Robertland Farm no longer exists but the name lives on as evidenced in the name of this school. The local area is now residential housing.

East Pokelly Farm. This was purchased from the Lindsay family about 1993 and is no longer a working farm. Note that Pokelly is pronounced Po-Kelly with the emphasis on Kelly.

Overall, a productive day but with some gaps still to fill.
