Duncan MacGillivray was my g-grandfather. The tomb stone looks like a replica of the Kildalton High Cross on Islay, where he grew up, though he was born in a Gaelic-speaking community in Dunmaglass, Inverness-shire, where the clan originated.
Many thanks for this on behalf of all his descendants

Duncan MacGillivray was my grandfather. I used to stay with them in the holidays in Glasgow and in Port Ellen,Islay. One of the great pleasures was being taken to Partick Ferry to see the big ships passing up & down. He was a member of the University Court & I remember well his funeral service in the University Chapel, Glasgow.
