John Robertson Ancestry Glasgow Scotland

This morning I visited the Southern Necropolis near Gorbals Glasgow. This is a fascinating cemetery containing memorials to wide range of wealthy and important people, mainly from the early 19th century when Glasgow was expanding rapidly as an industrial centre.

The video clip below show a recent memorial to John Robertson, an engineer who was born Dec 10th 1782 and died Nov 19th 1868. This man was responsible for the engine of the 'Comet' 1812 which was the first steamboat that plied regularly in Europe.
