This evening, I am posting an image of a (recumbent) memorial stone found in Eastwood Old Cemetery, Glasgow, Scotland.
This is very unusual in that the description of the deceased reads " Margaret McNair or Craig" who died Jan 7th 1905. Her husband was William Scott.

Margaret Blackburn Ancestry Glasgow Scotland
This evening, I am posting some information on Margaret Blackburn who features on a family tree in Greenbank House near Newton Mearns although neither this lady nor her family had any connection with the property.
Margaret Blackburn married James Wilson (1750-1830) in 1782. James Wilson was a cooper based in Pollockshaws, Glasgow. No other dates for MB are available. See yesterday's blog posting for information on James Wilson.

James Wilson Ancestry Pollockshaws Glasgow
This afternoon, I am departing from my 'normal' tombstone based records. Earlier today I visited Greenbank House, Newton Mearns, Glasgow which is a stately home and in the care of the National Trust. On the wall of the dining room is a Wilson family tree dating back to 1750. This family, being based in Lochwinnoch, has nothing to do with Greenbank House; the family tree was left to the National Trust who thought Greenbank an appropriate place to display the information.
James Wilson ( 1750-1830) was the youngest of nine children of John Wilson, a farmer of Barnaigh Farm near Lochwinnoch. James was a cooper based in Pollockshaws, Glasgow. He was married to Margaret Blackburn in 1782.

This evening, I am posting an image of a grave stone found at Eastwood Old Cemetery, Glasgow.
This records the death of Alexander Halliday on Dec 16th, 18?? age 51. He was married to Ann Daly.
Regrettably year of death is obscured due to erosion of the inscription. I would guess year would be about 1870.

Elizabeth Naismith Ancestry Tour Glasgow
This evening, I am posting an image of a (recumbent) headstone from Eastwood Old Cemetery, Glasgow.
This stone is old and the inscription faded. However, I was able to make out that it records the death of Elizabeth Naismith in 1855 but age at death was not clear. This woman was the wife/relation of John Armour.
Sunshine and autumn leaves combine to make an interesting image.

John Armour Ancestry Tour Glasgow Scotland
This evening, I am presenting an image from Glasgow's Eastwood Old Cemetery which contains some very old memorial stones dating back at least to the early 1800s.
This fallen (recumbent) headstone records the death of John Armour on Dec 31st 1825 age 60 years. His wife was Elizabeth Naismith.
Due to passage of time, the inscriptions are faded and difficult to read.

The Lady Matilda Harriet Maxwell Ancestry Glasgow
This afternoon, I am posting an image of a memorial plaque to The Lady Matilda Harriet Maxwell found on what appears to be the family mausoleum in Eastwood Old Cemetery, Glasgow.
Lady Maxwell was born Sept 23rd 1802 and died August 21st 1857. She was the daughter of Thomas, Earl of Elgin & Kincardine and wife of Sir John Maxwell Bart.
As will be evident from information contained in this link, the family have connections with the famous Elgin marbles.
From my experience it is unusual to find aristocracy buried in Glasgow cemeteries, so this was a nice bonus
