Campbell Ancestry, Glasgow, Scotland
This evening I am posting information on Isabella Campbell as sourced from two memorial stones at St. Andrews in the Green, Glasgow. This is a very old burial ground with deaths dating back to the early 19th century. Here there are two memorial stones which are located adjacent to each other and bearing the name Isabella Campbell. One of the stones is dated 1848 which may mean the date of death or the date the burial plot was purchased. One of the stones is very large with the vacant space on it suggesting other family names were intended to be added but never were. It is assumed that Isabella Campbell was an important and/or wealthy woman to have two memorial stones at a time of a very male dominated society. Maybe she was a wealthy widow?
