JANE HENDERSON GLASGOW GENEALOGY

This afternoon, I am posting an image of a Bennett family memorial located in Glasgow's Southern Necropolis.

List of deceased includes Jane Henderson who was born Sept 20th 1812 and died Dec 3rd 1874. Jane was the wife of Thomas Bennett.

It will be noted that five of Jane's children are recorded on the tombstone, all of whom died in infancy.

This evening I am posting an image of a family memorial from Glasgow's Southern Necropolis which evidences a high level of infant mortality prelevant in the 19th century.

The adults listed include Thomas Bennett who died April 23rd 1868 ange 51 years.

Alexander Greek Thomson Glasgow

This evening I am posting an image of the memorial to Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and his family members which is located in Glasgow's Southern Necropolis. Thomson was a famous architect with many extant examples of his work in Glasgow and environs. He obtained the sobriquet 'Greek' because of the classical Greek influences on his designs although he never actually visited Greece.

Thomson was born in Balfron in 1841 and died 1875.

The memorial in the image was completed in 2006.
