This evening, I am posting information on Thorburn family history as sourced from a memorial at Cathcart Cemetery. This records the deaths of:
- Robert Thorburn on Nov 20th 1923 age 58 yrs
- Samuel Thorburn, Chief Refrig.Engineer, S.S.Verdi, torpedoed Aug 22nd 1917, age 23 yrs.
- George Anderson, husband of Jane Nisbet Thorburn, on Oct 31st 1943 age 41 yrs.

Thank you for posting this information.
It has helped me to confirm what happened to George Anderson, the brother of my maternal grandfather Peter Anderson. They were born in Cellardyke, Fife, Peter in 1893 and George in 1902.
I also discovered that George married Jane Nisbet Thorburn in Dec 1928 in Glasgow.
Their daughter Mary McEwen Anderson was a good friend of my mother (Euphemia Gilchrist Anderson).
