This evening, I am posting information on McLachlan family history as sourced from a memorial in the military section of Eastwood New Cemetery. This records the death of:
- S/11493 Pte. A. McLachlan, Cameron Highlanders, on Nov 11th 1918, age 33 years.
Author's comment: This unfortunate soldier died on the very last day of the World War 1 conflict. An armistice between the opposing forces came into force at 11:00 a.m. Paris time on 11 November 1918 and marked a victory for the Allies and a defeat for Germany, although not formally a surrender.
