The image below records the burying place of David Dale, Merchant in Glasgow and is dated 1780.

Dale lived 1739-1806.

Locally, Dale is best known for establishing the massive textile mill site at New Lanark. By the time of Dale's death in 1806 he had handed over the management of the New Lanark site to his son-in-law, Robert Owen. In 1780, Dale bought land in Charlotte Street, Glasgow, this being a site on which to build a house. At the same it appears he purchased the burial plot at Ramshorn. Dale died in his Charlotte Street house, by that time he was a well respected Glasgow Merchant. Dale's funeral cortege was followed to St. David's Church ("Ramshorn Kirk") by some of leading figures of the day.
