This afternoon, I am posting information on the Reverend Alexander Ogilvie Beattie who died in 1858. This gentleman was a supporter of Glasgow architect, Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and was instrumental in engaging Thomson to design the St. Vincent Street United Presbyterian Church where Beattie would have become the first minister if it were not for his (Beattie's) untimely death.
This monument, which was designed by Thomson is of architectural interest in its own right, can be found in Glasgow's Necropolis, close to the Cathedral.
Due to weathering, the inscription on the monument is partly eroded.
